How to Add a Custom Domain to Your Site

Edited

Overview

Adding your domain to BionicWP is a crucial step in launching your website. By associating your domain with your BionicWP-hosted site, you ensure that visitors can access your website using your chosen domain name.

How It Works

When you add your domain to BionicWP, you're linking your website's address (e.g., www.yourdomain.com) to the hosting environment provided by BionicWP. This process involves updating your domain's DNS settings to point to BionicWP's servers and configuring the domain within the BionicWP dashboard.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into the BionicWP Dashboard

  2. Access Your Sites

    • Click on “Sites” in the left navigation menu.

    • Locate and select the site you want to associate with your domain.

  3. Navigate to the Domain Section

    • Within the site dashboard, click on the Domain tab.

  4. Add Your Domain

    • In the “Enter Domain” field, input your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com).

    • Click Add Domain to associate it with your site.

  5. Set Primary Domain

    • After adding your domain, you'll have the option to set it as the primary domain.

    • Choose between the www or non-www version as your primary domain.

Note: Ensure that your domain's DNS settings are correctly configured to point to BionicWP's servers. This typically involves updating the A records to match the IP addresses provided by BionicWP.

Pro Tip: After updating your domain's DNS settings, it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate globally. During this period, your website might not be immediately accessible via the new domain. Plan accordingly to minimize downtime.
