How to Manage DNS in the BionicWP Dashboard

Edited

Overview

BionicWP offers integrated DNS management, allowing you to control your domain's DNS settings directly from the platform. This feature enables you to add, modify, or remove DNS records without the need for third-party DNS providers, streamlining the process of pointing your domain to BionicWP servers.

How It Works

Within the BionicWP dashboard, you can create a DNS zone for your domain, view and manage nameservers, and configure DNS records such as A, CNAME, TXT, and MX records. This centralized approach simplifies domain management and ensures your website is correctly connected to BionicWP's hosting environment.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into the BionicWP Dashboard

  2. Access Your Sites

    • Click on “Sites” in the left navigation menu.

    • Locate and select the site for which you want to manage DNS settings.

  3. Navigate to Domain/DNS Management

    • Within the site dashboard, click on the Domain/DNS tab.

  4. Add Your Domain

    • Under the “Domain” section, enter your primary domain name.

    • Click Add Domain to associate it with your site.

  5. Create DNS Zone

    • Switch to the DNS tab.

    • Click on Create Zone and Manage DNS to establish a DNS zone for your domain.

  6. View Nameservers

    • After creating the DNS zone, your domain's nameservers will be displayed.

    • Update your domain registrar's settings to point to these nameservers.

  7. Manage DNS Records

    • Scroll down to view existing DNS records.

    • To add a new record:

      • Click Add Record.

      • Select the record type (e.g., A, CNAME, TXT, MX).

      • Enter the necessary details and save the record.

    • To edit or delete an existing record, use the corresponding options next to each record.

Note: BionicWP automatically creates essential records (two A records and a CNAME for 'www') when you add your domain. Additional records can be managed as needed.

Pro Tip: After updating your domain's nameservers, DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Plan accordingly to avoid downtime.
