Where to Find Your SFTP Credentials

Edited

Overview

Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) allows you to access your website's files securely. BionicWP provides an easy way to generate and manage SFTP credentials directly from your dashboard, ensuring secure and efficient file management for your WordPress site.

How It Works

BionicWP enables you to generate unique SFTP credentials for each of your websites. These credentials grant you secure access to your site's files, allowing you to perform tasks such as uploading themes, plugins, or troubleshooting issues.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into the BionicWP Dashboard

  2. Access Your Sites

    • Click on “Sites” in the left navigation menu.

    • Locate and select the site for which you want to generate SFTP credentials.

  3. Navigate to the SFTP/SSH Section

    • Under Site Information tab, see the SFTP/SSH Credentials section.

  4. Generate SFTP Credentials

    • Click on the circular arrow button to Regenerate Credentials.

    • Your new SFTP credentials, including the username, password, and host information, will be displayed.

  5. Use the Credentials

    • Utilize these credentials with your preferred SFTP client (e.g., FileZilla, Cyberduck) to access your site's files securely. Make sure you're adding sftp:// before the IP in the host field.

Pro Tip: Always keep your SFTP credentials confidential and regenerate them periodically to maintain security. If you suspect that your credentials have been compromised, regenerate them immediately to prevent unauthorized access.
